Lily Collins is ENGAGED: Charlie McDowell pops the question on romantic date following one-year romance
Lily Collins has announced she is engaged to director Charlie McDowell following a one-year romance. Collins took to Instagram to share the happy news alongside images of them kissing and the moment McDowell proposed during a romantic date in Arizona. Collins confirmed her relationship with McDowell in August 2019. Collins also showed off her unique engagement ring, serving as her new statement piece of jewellery.
McDowell uploaded a separate photo of Collins beaming with delight. Collins cut a casual figure during the special moment as she opted for comfort in a multi-colored jumper and wide-leg jeans. McDowell looked equally low-key in a grey T-shirt, a baseball cap, and dark-wash jeans. Many of their industry friends sent their well wishes on social media. Collins is the latest in a long line of A-List partners for McDowell, who directed “The One I Love” and “The Discovery”.
McDowell has dated several high-profile actresses, including Emilia Clarke, Hilary Duff, and Rooney Mara. McDowell was in a relationship with Duff for three months between September and December 2007. McDowell then had a serious romance with Mara for over six years from 2010, which came to an end in September 2016. McDowell and Clarke confirmed they were dating in October 2018, but the relationship fizzled out and they called it quits in February 2019.
Lily Collins has also had her fair share of headline-grabbing relationships, including a brief romance with Zac Efron in 2012.
Collins had an on/off romance with Jamie Bower for five years after meeting on the set of “The Mortal Instruments“, but the pair called it quits for good in 2018. Collins and McDowell both have famous parents. Collins’ father is British musician Phil Collins, while McDowell is the son of actor Malcolm McDowell and actress Mary Steenburgen. In 2019, Collins and McDowell took their relationship to the next level as they adopted their rescue dog, and have been living together in Los Angeles amid the covid pandemic.
