Drew Barrymore, ex-husband Tom Green reunite after 15 years of not speaking
Drew Barrymore got incredibly emotional during a recent reconnection with her ex-husband Tom Green after 15 years of not seeing or speaking with him. She reunited with Green on her talk show “The Drew Barrymore Show” and fought tears as she explained to him, “I think the world of you and I celebrate you and I always have and always will.” Green glowed as Barrymore exuded her sentiment and he made it a point to memorialize the touching moment.
Green was so happy when Barrymore invited him on the show. It has been too long, they did not talk for about 15 years. Barrymore and Green met when she tapped him to play her muse and boytoy “The Chad” in “Charlie’s Angels”. Barrymore and Green was inseparable during their heyday and she stood by his side through his rising career on MTV with “The Tom Green Show” and in his lowest moments in 2000 when he battled testicular cancer.
Green reflected that it was exciting getting to do “Charlie’s Angels” with Barrymore, they hit it off right away. Barrymore and Green married in 2001 but the union fizzled quickly and they soon ended things just a year later. Green was doing reality television before there was reality television, so as his girlfriend and supporter of that, Barrymore was on a ride she did not totally understand.
Drew Barrymore opened up about her reunion with Green, describing the meeting as a fun celebration.
It was not for TV and TV sensationalism, it is very emotional and there was a meaning and a depth to it. Barrymore chalked their fissured marriage up to the fact they were so young at the time and less mature than they both are today. Barrymore and Green are both more grown-up now and there has been a whole life lived. It is wild to reconnect. Timing is everything.
Somehow Barrymore and Green have found their way back into each other’s lives through oddly the timing and the medium of television, and that kind of is where they first met, so maybe that is a full circle thing. There has been a lot of growth and life lived on both sides of their universes in these last 20 years. Barrymore’s marriage to Green served as the second time she had exchanged nuptials.
Barrymore was also married to Jeremy Thomas from 1994 to 1995. Barrymore would go on to lead a number of relationships in the public eye, including with Justin Long and most recently with art dealer Will Kopelman from 2012 to 2016 and with whom she shares two daughters, Olive, 7, and Frankie, 6. Barrymore declared that she will never get married again.
On September 14th 2020, Drew Barrymore is getting reflective about her career as she begins a new chapter as a daytime talk show host.
Ahead of the highly anticipated premiere of “The Drew Barrymore Show”, she spoke with “CBS Sunday Morning” for a candid interview in which she opened up about some of the more infamous moments in her career, such as the time in 1995 when she danced on David Letterman’s desk in at age 20 and flashed the late-night host in honor of his birthday. If there is one thing Barrymore has learned in a very long life in front of people is there is a line. There is too much information.
And Barrymore knows what that line is, and it is a feeling. Barrymore previously spoke about the infamous flashing moment in a 2018 interview with new “Late Show” host, Stephen Colbert, in which she also stated that she feels like a different person and called it a distant memory. Fortunately, there are no hard feelings between Barrymore and Letterman, who she revealed was one of the many celebrities who gave her advice about how to be a talk show host.
Growing up in a famous acting family known for its hard-partying Hollywood lifestyle, Barrymore’s rise to success was not a particularly clean one. Barrymore infamously went to rehab at 13 and successfully petitioned to get herself emancipated from her parents by age 14. Barrymore pushed the limits a lot, many different times in her life. Now Barrymore is a mother of two daughters and she says that setting a good example for her children is what has replaced partying in her life.
Drew Barrymore wants to be all about the pillars of appropriateness and decorum, and she does not lie to her children.
Barrymore has lived a lot of different lives, and this is what is important to her now. Barrymore’s children have inspired her to be the best person she has ever been in her life, and she thanks them every single day for that.
