Nevada woman accused in bitcoin murder-for-hire plot

Nevada is a landlocked state in the Western region of the United States.

A Nevada woman has been accused by California prosecutors of paying $5,000 in bitcoin to hire a hitman on the dark web to kill her ex-husband. Kristy Felkins was charged in an indictment with sending the bitcoin to a hitman website that turned out to be a scam. Prosecutors said that during negotiations with the website in 2016 Felkins contracted to have her ex-husband whacked when he traveled to Chico in California.

A criminal complaint accused Felkins of using interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder-for-hire. Federal investigators learned of the alleged plot in 2019. The bogus website was not identified in the complaint. The court papers accuse Felkins of contacting the website through an account called KBGMKN. At another point, the website messaged KBGMKN about the hit.

Felkins is due in court September 30th 2020.
